What do I do if I arrive after hours?

If you arrive after hours please proceed to our office located at 4 Big Muster Drive. Come to the front door and look to the left, you will see a locked key cabinet on the wall where you will enter a code to access. The code will be sent to you via email prior to your arrival. Inside the cabinet, there will be an envelope with your name and property on it, and inside will be your keys and map to your property. If you have any difficulties at all, please call us on 03 5178 3088 and we will assist you.

If you are arriving after hours, at some stage the following day, we would ask that you please call into the office to formally check-in, please bring with you the registration from your envelope.

Do I need to bring my own firewood?

No, you do not need to bring your own firewood. Firewood will be provided onsite.

Is there a snow guarantee?

Unfortunately, we do not have a snow guarantee. No compensation will be given should there be no snow during your visit.

What is your cancellation policy?

In the event that you need to cancel your booking (only if booked directly with Dinner Plain Accommodation), you will need to notify our office in writing. Please note that the following fees will apply:

  • Cancellations made between 0 and 60 days of the arrival date, no refund is applicable unless the chalet is rebooked. In this instance, a partial refund may be available.
  • Cancellations made more than 60 days prior to the arrival date incur a penalty of a $100 service charge.

What time is check in and check out?

Check in is available from 4:00pm (2pm in Summer) and the check out time on the day of your departure is 10:00am.

Is there additional parking?

Yes, there is additional parking available. If you have insufficient parking at your lodge, please use the overnight car park located at Scrubbers End. No charges apply. A permit is available from your accommodation provider.

Is linen provided?

Yes, bedding and towels are provided based on the number of guests confirmed on the reservation. Additional linens and towels may be requested onsite for an additional fee.

Can I receive mail during my stay?

Yes, Australia Post provides a daily mail service to Dinner Plain. The postbox is located in Big Muster Drive at the Dinner Plain Accommodation Office.

Is there anywhere to do a big grocery shop in Dinner Plain?

When coming to the mountain if you wish to do grocery shopping we would suggest stopping in Bright at the Woolworths there.

Do I need chains for my car, and is there somewhere I can get these from before getting to Mt Hotham/Dinner Plain?

Legally, you are required to carry chains when visiting the mountain. We recommend stopping to rent snow chains for your car at 'Hoys' in Harrietville which is the next town past Bright.

If we are wanting to drive our car up to Mt Hotham for the day, is there parking and do we need a pass?

If you do want to stop in the main Mount Hotham village you may need to purchase an alpine easy access pass which is the resort entry.

Is there any fuel stations on the mountain?

There are no service stations on the mountain. Bright and Omeo are the last places you can get fuel from before Mt Hotham/Dinner Plain.

(If you have a Diesel car, make sure you have filled with alpine fuel)

Given the unprecedented circumstances we face due to COVID-19, if you are unable to travel due to government restrictions that are in place, we will waive any cancellation fees and offer a change of date, full credit to be used until the end of 2021 or a full refund.
