If you arrive after hours please find the SMS that was sent to the mobile number on the booking. On this SMS you will find a google link, click on this link and you will be given the directions to the property. Once you have located the property, enter the ‘unique access code’ from the SMS on either the keypad on the front door or the small key lock box next to the front door.

Please contact our office within 7 days of your departure to claim your items. Lost property can be forwarded to you & postage costs charged to the credit card on your booking.
No, you do not need to bring your own firewood. Firewood will be provided onsite.
Unfortunately, we do not have a snow guarantee. No compensation will be given should there be no snow during your visit.

A Dinner Plain 'Smart Card' is a cashless, modern way to pay for bus travel.

On arrival pre-purchase a smart card at our office and then top up online using your own smartphone.

Smart Card FAQ

In the event that you need to cancel your booking (only if booked directly with Dinner Plain Accommodation), you will need to notify our office in writing. Please note that the following fees will apply:

  • Cancellations made between 0 and 60 days of the arrival date, no refund is applicable unless the chalet is rebooked. In this instance, a partial refund may be available.
  • Cancellations made more than 60 days prior to the arrival date incur a penalty of a $100 service charge.
Check in is available from 4:00pm (2pm in Summer) and the check out time on the day of your departure is 10:00am.
Yes, there is additional parking available. If you have insufficient parking at your lodge, please use the overnight car park located at Scrubbers End. No charges apply. A permit is available from your accommodation provider.
Yes, bedding and towels are provided based on the number of guests confirmed on the reservation. Additional linens and towels may be requested onsite for an additional fee.
Yes, Australia Post provides a daily mail service to Dinner Plain. The postbox is located in Big Muster Drive at the Dinner Plain Accommodation Office.

Legally, you are required to carry chains when visiting the mountain during the snow season (June-October).

We suggest calling one of the providers ahead of your trip to confirm they have the correct size chains available. HOYS - 03 5759 2589 OR Omeo Ski Hire 03 5159 1600

Whether you use them or not will depend on the conditions on the day you travel. You will be informed along the way by either signage or staff advising that chains need to be fitted. Chains must be held in your car from the Harrietville approach or Omeo approach. If you are found not to have compliant chains necessary for your vehicle, you may incur a fine.

If you do want to stop in the main Mount Hotham village you may need to purchase an alpine easy access pass which is the resort entry. You can purchase it at this website, Alpine easy access pass.

There are no service stations on the mountain. Bright and Omeo are the last places you can get fuel from before Mt Hotham/Dinner Plain.

(If you have a Diesel car, make sure you have filled with alpine fuel)

Unfortunately, there is currently no ATM in the Village. The nearest ATM is located at Hotham Central and is only accessible over Winter.
There is an Australia Post in Omeo that delivered to our office Monday to Friday all year round. Likewise you can send things from our office to Omeo for posting.
The General at Mt Hotham receives daily papers over Winter.

Winter - The Mount Hotham Medical Centre is located in the corner of the Mt Hotham Day car park. Should you require medical assistance please call 5759 3551.

Summer - the Bright Medical Centre is located 60km from Dinner Plain. Should you require medical assistance please call 5750 1000 for an appointment.

For Ambulance & Emergencies please call 000.

Our Digital Television has the following channels: ABC 1, 2, 3 and 24, SBS 1 and 2, Seven, Seven two, Seven mate, Nine, Go, Gem, Ten, 1 HD, 11, Win, Gippsland News, ABC Radio, DPTV- Snow Show. We no longer have the Austar channels.

We recommend you check the road conditions on the day of your arrival by checking the VicRoads website to ensure you are not delayed with possible road closures.

There is NO fuel available at Dinner Plain or Mt Hotham - the closest fuel stations are in Omeo or Bright.

Most properties do not have wifi, those that do will have it specified on the website. Telstra and Optus networks receive good coverage and most residents hot spot off their mobiles.
